Crossed Grain
Coeliac UK
It is good to be glutenfree at LucyCooks – The Cookery School in the Lakes. Nowadays more and more people avoid using gluten in their diet either through diagnosis of coeliac disease or for other health reasons … At LucyCooks they have always been ‘allergy aware’ and have courses dedicated to those with intolerances of varying kinds. The ‘gluten-free’ days are generally dedicated to creating all those things you think you’ll never be able to eat again...
Being a person with coeliac disease or having an intolerance to wheat or gluten laden products can be a real minefi eld for many. Understanding this condition is one thing, being able to enjoy all those things that you immediately think you will have to avoid is another ... This is a day where you can be shown how to make the most of the alternative ‘grains’ to make cakes, bread and pastry and how to put the elasticity back into your baking (and your waistline!). LucyCooks will show you how to create a range of delicious goodies... sweet, savoury and scrumptious, which you will also be able to re-create afterwards in your own home. Not only will they taste great, they certainly won’t compromise your health or wellbeing. In-fact, they are so good, you’ll have to lock them away to stop the rest of the family devouring them!
Whether you are new to glutenfree cookery or simply feeling weary of serving the same things, LucyCooks can rekindle the pleasure of indulgence of food providing you with lots of information that will expand your culinary repertoire.
Also, don’t be afraid to tackle some of LucyCooks ‘non gluten-free’ courses... simply tell them you have coeliac disease or DH and they will adapt accordingly. Other specialist courses include dairy and fat free days. They also create bespoke courses within this sector for specifi c groups, for example carers, health workers and teachers – please LucyCooks on for further details.
