learn to cook in the Lake District
STAFF at LucyCooks Cookery School in Staveley were delighted to welcome actress and queen of home baking Jane Asher into the cookery school recently.
LucyCooks are proud sponsors of the Jane Asher Home Baker of the Year Competition which Jane recently launched for 2009. Now in its sixth year the competition aims to remind people that baking is a skill worth nurturing and that it can be an enjoyable activity for people of all ages and walks of life.
"There are obviously important social and cultural benefits to be derived from cooking more at home. With the Home Baker of the Year Competition we really want to remind people how much fun baking can be and how quick and easy it is to turn out delicious results which your family and friends will love you for."
Jane came along to LucyCooks to have a look at some of the Home Baker of the Year Competition entries from Cumbria and talk to local food producers about the produce the area has to offer. As a leading foodie entrepreneur in the area, Lucy Nicholson, owner of the cookery school is keen to support any initiative that gets us back into the kitchen. She comments;
"My aim is to inspire people to get creative in the kitchen and I think that this makes Lucy Cooks the perfect partner for Jane Asher and The Home Baker competition."
The competition is open to everyone over the age of 16. Entrants will need to submit their recipes online via www.homebake.co.uk or via post to Victoria Foods Ltd, Bright Street, Leigh, Lancashire WN7 5QH.
