Daytime Practical Course

Brazil's cuisine is interesting, to say the least. The country's long history of immigration and wide cultural diversity across its regions has served to widen the range and variety of Brazilian foods. In this sense it is hard to generalize about Brazilian food, mainly because there is no one single national Brazilian cuisine that distinguish it, but numerous very distinct regional ones, as you will discover on your Taste of Brazil cookery day with us. Brazilian food mirror the variety and mix of its people, with influences from the indigenous people of Brazil, the Portuguese, African and Italian people, to name but a few.

Dishes you may be creating on your day…
Pão de Queijo – A Brazilian cheese bread made with tapioca flour. They’re puffy and perfect finger food, great for dipping!

Coxinhas - Little raindrops of fried goodness usually filled with chicken and a very creamy cheese called “catupiry.”

Moqueca de Camarão - A fish dish cooked in coconut milk and palm oil

Mousse de Maracujá - A delightfully light passion fruit dessert

DURING YOUR DAY:

Our one day courses are designed to be fun hands-on and interactive – whatever your age, experience, or ability.

Arrive at 10.00am and enjoy coffee and a morning snack in the ‘Bubbling Beck’ riverside room…. Meet and chat with those also enjoying a relaxing and informative day at LucyCooks. You will get to meet your chef for the day who will do a short introduction to LucyCooks and let you know the format for your day ahead.

Around 10.15am move upstairs to the fully practical kitchen area – where you will be directed to one of our delightful galley kitchens, each one of which is fully equipped to your specific requirements, with a choice of gas, electric or induction hobs. There are also facilities for those with disabilities and children of varying ages.

Your fully practical course will start with a demonstration by your chef. You will then return to your kitchen, copy what they have shown you and start cooking…..

Lunch is a social affair back in the BubblingBeck… something light and delicious accompanied by a glass of wine.

The Afternoon session is some more watching, learning and doing, with a refreshment break somewhere along the way. By the time you have finished at around 4.00pm, you will have hopefully picked up a few tips and enjoyed a break from your regular routine.

We don’t profess to send you out with a diploma on kitchen management and culinary skills, but you will leave with a variety of new skills and inspiration. You will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labours back in the comfort of your own home and be proud of what you have achieved as you get to take all of your goodies home at the end of the day.
