Daytime Practical Course

When you're talking about "Vietnamese food," you're talking about rice in many forms, fish sauce, herbs, seafood, pork, beef, chicken, and tropical fruits (rambutan, banana, papaya, mango, etc.), with borrowed flavors from the French imperialists and nearby countries like Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, and China. The fantastic dishes are hard to choose on this LucyCooks taste trip to Vietnam!

Dishes you may be creating..

Pho... one of many, many, MANY noodle soups in Vietnam

Gỏi cuốn... literally means "salad rolls" and should be distinguished from the fried rolls, which are also sometimes called spring rolls (or chả giò)

Barbeque Pork Buns....Tastier than a take away and great for nibbling and sharing. These dim sum will impress your guests every time!

Hot-and-Sour Beef and Rice Noodle Salad...a classic!

DURING YOUR DAY:
Our one day courses are designed to be fun hands-on and interactive – whatever your age, experience, or ability.

Arrive at 10.00am and enjoy coffee and a morning snack in the ‘Bubbling Beck’ riverside room…. Meet and chat with those also enjoying a relaxing and informative day at LucyCooks. You will get to meet your chef for the day who will do a short introduction to LucyCooks and let you know the format for your day ahead.

Around 10.15am move upstairs to the fully practical kitchen area – where you will be directed to one of our delightful galley kitchens, each one of which is fully equipped to your specific requirements, with a choice of gas, electric or induction hobs. There are also facilities for those with disabilities and children of varying ages.

Your fully practical course will start with a demonstration by your chef. You will then return to your kitchen, copy what they have shown you and start cooking…..

Lunch is a social affair back in the BubblingBeck… something light and delicious accompanied by a glass of wine.

The Afternoon session is some more watching, learning and doing, with a refreshment break somewhere along the way. By the time you have finished at around 4.00pm, you will have hopefully picked up a few tips and enjoyed a break from your regular routine.

We don’t profess to send you out with a diploma on kitchen management and culinary skills, but you will leave with a variety of new skills and inspiration. You will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labours back in the comfort of your own home and be proud of what you have achieved as you get to take all of your goodies home at the end of the day.
