Daytime Practical Course

At the heart of Moroccan cookery are tagines … developed in many variations and named after the funnel shaped pot in which they are cooked. Simplicity is at the heart of a Medina kitchen where the exotic fuses with the domestic to produce deliciously flavoured dishes that are quick and relatively easy to prepare. This course covers some of the most popular dishes together with some additional ideas that will have you longing to fill your cupboards with some of the aromatic spices that are often used within this style of cooking as well as the glorious tagine pots that would grace any kitchen in the world.

Dishes you may create:
Chicken Tagine
Jewelled Cous Cous
Grilled aubergine salad
Moroccan carrot and orange salad
Hout Khaudra (a marinated fish dish)
Banana, apricot and cinnamon filo parcels

DURING YOUR DAY:
Our one day courses are designed to be fun hands-on and interactive – whatever your age, experience, or ability.

Arrive at 10.00 and enjoy coffee and a morning snack in the ‘Bubbling Beck’ riverside room…. Meet and chat with those also enjoying a relaxing and informative day at LucyCooks. You will get to meet your chef for the day who will do a short introduction to LucyCooks and let you know the format for your day ahead.

Around 10.15am move upstairs to the fully practical kitchen area – where you will be directed to one of our delightful galley kitchens, each one of which is fully equipped to your specific requirements, with a choice of gas, electric or induction hobs. There are also facilities for those with disabilities and children of varying ages.

Your fully practical course will start with a demonstration by your chef. You will then return to your kitchen, copy what they have shown you and start cooking…..

Lunch is a social affair back in the BubblingBeck… something light and delicious accompanied by a glass of wine.

The Afternoon session is some more watching, learning and doing, with a refreshment break somewhere along the way. By the time you have finished at around 4.00pm, you will have hopefully picked up a few tips and enjoyed a break from your regular routine.

We don’t profess to send you out with a diploma on kitchen management and culinary skills, but you will leave with a variety of new skills and inspiration. You will be able to enjoy the fruits of your labours back in the comfort of your own home and be proud of what you have achieved as you get to take all of your goodies home at the end of the day.
